Regulation

The Tasmanian Government said it will introduce new measures for electronic gaming machines in hotels and clubs, including a seven-hour daily closure period, ticket-in/ticket-out limits and a lower machine cap over time. Venues have until 30 June to apply for licences against the current 2,350-machine cap; immediate self-exclusion technology is planned once developed, and facial recognition will be mandatory for excluded patrons.

Hotels and clubs must adapt operating hours, machine controls and exclusion procedures to the announced measures.
