Sports Betting Alliance urges Chicago to delay sportsbook licensing plan

Regulation

The Sports Betting Alliance urged Chicago to delay its proposed municipal licensing and tax framework for online sports betting by at least 180 days, according to the report. It said the proposed 10.25% tax and lack of an application process could force operators to suspend services and put state revenue at risk.

A delay would give operators time to prepare applications before the proposed city licensing requirement takes effect.
