Sports Betting Alliance drops challenge to Chicago betting tax
The Sports Betting Alliance said it dropped its lawsuit seeking to block Chicago’s online sports betting tax and licensing framework after the city issued licences to five operators on 31 December. The ordinance provides for a 10.25% tax on adjusted gross sports wagering receipts from online bets placed in Chicago and was due to take effect on 1 January 2026.
The withdrawal leaves the operators facing Chicago’s planned local tax and licensing requirements.
