Spain's DGOJ will require online gambling operators to apply nationwide deposit limits from 26 March 2027, according to a report. The limits are €700 per day, €1,750 per week and €3,300 over four weeks, aggregated across all accounts held by the same player. The system is in a testing phase, and the functionality is already available for players to access.

Under the new model, deposits are aggregated across every account held by the same individual, unlike the previous framework in which limits were calculated separately for each sports betting or online casino website. When a player reaches any of the thresholds, the system automatically blocks further funds on any authorised platform. The DGOJ has developed a technological tool that coordinates the information needed to verify compliance with the limits in real time.

Players may voluntarily adjust or remove the limits after completing a protocol that includes enhanced information on the risks associated with gambling. Changes take three business days to come into effect, and an increase in the deposit limit can be requested only once every three months.

According to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, the arrangement delivers stronger supervision and spares operators from swapping information they do not need to exchange, while players' personal data gain better safeguards. The ministry also observed that close to one-third of active players take part on several platforms at once, which it said shows why fresh preventive and protective measures are needed as a further, complementary layer on top of the deposit limit systems that individual operators already run.

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs has also introduced a Player Portal, which gives a centralised review of online gaming activity across licensed operators in Spain. Players can review a consolidated history of deposits, wagers, winnings and losses, access aggregated statistics, verify the gaming accounts linked to their identity, set spending alerts and download annual activity certificates.
