Spain's deposit-limit decree reaches end of EU observation period

Regulation

The EU standstill period for Spain's draft online gambling deposit-limit decree was due to end on 20 February 2026, closing the notification-stage period for comments before possible approval. Malta had secured a one-month extension and raised objections; Spain's DGOJ defended the proposed rules, while Jdigital also submitted concerns about the shared deposit-limit system.

Operators may face new deposit-limit requirements if Spain approves the draft decree after the notification process.
