Spain proposes including gambling taxes in regional funding calculations
Spain’s finance minister María Jesús Montero presented a proposed regional funding model that explicitly includes gambling taxes in the autonomous communities’ tax capacity. The proposal is expected to take effect in 2027 and would provide regions with an estimated additional €20,975m, bringing the total to €224,507m; it has been sent to regional governments for review.
The proposal would make gambling-tax revenue an explicit factor in calculating regional funding and equalisation.
