Spain blocks Polymarket and Kalshi during unlicensed gambling probe

Enforcement & compliance

Spain’s Ministry of Consumer Rights announced access restrictions on Polymarket and Kalshi as the DGOJ opened sanctioning proceedings over alleged unlicensed gambling services. The temporary block is expected to last three to four months while the investigation continues. The ministry said the platforms must obtain specific licences to offer wagers on uncertain future outcomes in Spain.

Temporary access restrictions and licensing proceedings threaten the platforms’ ability to offer wagers in Spain.
