South Korean commission orders Polymarket access blocked over illegal betting
South Korea’s media and communications review commission ordered access to Polymarket blocked after classifying the platform as facilitating gambling and illegal betting under South Korean law. The commission rejected Polymarket’s arguments about its Korean-language services, won payments and decentralised transactions, citing its role in markets, transaction systems and fees.
The decision establishes that decentralised prediction-market features do not exclude platforms from South Korean betting laws.
