South Korean authorities arrest more than 5,196 people in gambling cases

Enforcement & compliance

South Korean authorities arrested more than 5,196 people suspected of running or participating in illegal gambling between November 2024 and October 2025, according to a media report. Among those arrested were 97 people allegedly involved in a gambling business targeting South Koreans that was estimated to be worth $360 million. The Korean National Police Agency said sustained enforcement could help limit the networks’ influence.

The arrests indicate enforcement activity against illegal gambling networks operating in South Korea.
