South Korea considers delaying casino reforms amid operator consultations
South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is considering postponing its proposed casino-rule changes, which it had aimed to submit in September, according to industry sources and local media reports. The proposal would raise the maximum contribution to the Tourism Promotion and Development Fund from 10% to 15% above a threshold still to be set, and introduce five-year licence renewals; the ministry said it aims to submit it later this year.
Casino operators may face higher fund contributions and recurring five-year licence assessments if the proposed changes proceed.
