South Africa Treasury extends comment deadline for proposed online gambling tax
South Africa’s National Treasury extended the public comment deadline for its proposed 20% tax on online gambling gross revenue to 27 February 2026, following requests for more time. The draft discussion paper, published on 25 November 2025, proposes the levy in addition to provincial taxes; the proposal is not yet in force.
Operators and other stakeholders have more time to submit views on a proposed national levy alongside provincial taxes.
