SEC requires student-athlete betting training before 2026/2027 season
The Southeastern Conference will require student-athletes to complete sports gambling education before competing in the 2026/2027 season, the conference said. The training will cover responsible gambling and problem gambling; SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey cited sports betting incidents and prediction-market developments as reasons for making the issue a priority.
The requirement makes gambling education a condition of student-athletes’ participation in SEC competition.
