The destruction took place at the market in the Canastica sector of San Cristóbal and was led by the province's chief prosecutor, Ramona Santana Uceta, alongside police officials.

Santana Uceta said the Public Ministry would continue coordinating with the National Police on operations against illegal activities and would ensure that seized goods are processed and destroyed in line with the law. The institutions said the joint actions would continue.
In August, the National Police's Central Intelligence Directorate (DINTEL) retained 50 slot machines and 12 high-displacement motorcycles in operations across Greater Santo Domingo, the National District and the provinces of San Cristóbal and San Pedro de Macorís. Slot machines were also seized during an inspection at horse-racing agencies in Yamazá, Monte Plata province, where several premises were reportedly operating without the required permits.
