Mexico's Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) seized more than 50 slot machines at a property in the centre of Santa Rosa Jáuregui, Querétaro, according to an account. The operation was carried out with support from the Ejército, the Guardia Nacional and the Policía Estatal (POES), and the seized equipment was placed at the disposal of the Ministerio Público Federal for the investigation.
Because the premises were closed, personnel had to force open the access gate with tools, according to local media cited in the report. Inside, more than 50 machines were found that, according to the report, would not have had permits to operate. The equipment was secured and moved by crane to the federal prosecutor's office. Authorities maintained a security perimeter in the area during the operation.
A simultaneous operation in the Centro Histórico of Mexico City resulted in the seizure of at least 12 slot machines, the report said. The coordinated action between federal and local bodies was aimed at curbing the presence of unregulated gaming terminals, according to the report.
The report also said a reform to Mexico's Ley Federal de Juegos y Sorteos has completed internal review by the federal government and will be assessed by the Gabinete de Seguridad Nacional before being sent to the Congreso de la Unión. The initiative seeks to update the framework governing the activity since 1947, according to the Secretaría de Gobernación. It was announced before the Cámara de Diputados in September 2025 and responds to a direct instruction from the Presidency of the Republic to coordinate all agencies with competence over the casino and betting sector, the report said.
