Carmen Rodrigo Martín has become president of SAJUCAL, the Asociación de Empresarios de Salas de Juego de Castilla y León, the association of gaming hall operators in Castilla y León. She was elected at the association's recent assembly, which also named Mónica Palomares as vice-president. Rodrigo spoke to Infoplay after a press conference presenting the XIX Congreso de Juego de Castilla y León.
Rodrigo said payment terminals and cash machines will disappear from 1 January under the draft law due to go to the Cortes de Castilla y León. She said the sector's main concern is that draft bill, and that the damage caused before payment methods are negotiated in the implementing regulations will be considerable.
She said her priority as president is approval of a good regulation that is favourable to companies, to the player and to all, and agreed by all parties. She said she had been named president at the assembly held in recent days and described the role as one with important challenges, the regulation first among them.
Rodrigo said she will not take part in the congress panels, and that SAJUCAL will be represented by Palomares, who is due to speak on the panel on family business and generational handover. The XIX Congreso de Juego de Castilla y León is held on 20 and 21 October in Soria.
Rodrigo said she expects the Administration to give the sector broad support on its requests. She said she took positive things from the congress each year, including contact with people in the sector and with the Administration.
