Carmen Rodrigo, recently appointed president of SAJUCAL, the association of gaming hall operators in Castilla y León, used a media meeting ahead of the XIX Congreso de Juego de Castilla y León to set out the sector's main requests. The congress was held in Soria on 20 and 21 October 2026.
Rodrigo said access to new payment methods for gaming halls should be made easier, on terms comparable with those of other business activities. She said she hoped the matter could be addressed through joint work between the administration and the sector, with the aim of adding solutions suited to technological and commercial change.
She also raised concern about the possible consequences of the bill made known after the summer, saying it could cause significant losses and harm to the activity. She asked the administration to study its effects and to open a channel of dialogue to reach agreements that would address companies' needs.
Rodrigo further called for progress in the review and negotiation of the regulations then on the table. She argued that innovation, technology and new payment methods should be developed alongside measures for player security and protection. She closed by calling for collaboration between the administration and operators as the way to address the regulatory and technological challenges facing the gaming hall sector in Castilla y León.
