São Paulo football federation warns betting-ad ban could cost R$1bn
The São Paulo Football Federation and six city clubs urged Mayor Ricardo Nunes to discuss two proposed bills restricting sports-betting advertising at venues in the municipality, according to the report. Their letter estimates at least R$1bn in contract renegotiations and cancellations if the measures pass; the bills have been reviewed by the city council's Constitution and Justice Committee.
The proposed municipal restriction could affect betting sponsorship agreements and clubs' expected revenues.
