Italy's Finance Police in Rome fined a venue €5,000 after officers found a slot machine running beyond the hours allowed under municipal rules, the force said. The check took place during a wider operation in the Nomentano and Italia districts of the capital's Municipio II, according to the Comando Provinciale della Guardia di Finanza di Roma.

The operation was carried out by the I Gruppo Roma and other Rome units, with more than 60 officers deployed alongside dog units and Baschi Verdi. Officers focused on minimarkets and neighbourhood businesses serving the local nightlife, and carried out 103 economic and financial inspections in total.

The municipal rules on slot machine operating hours were adopted to counter problem gambling, the force said. The fine was issued as an administrative sanction for the breach.
