Researchers assess UK gambling checks at £150 net deposits

Researchers analysed open banking and self-reported risk data from 424 UK gamblers to assess the £150 net-deposit trigger for financial risk checks. Over 12 months, about two-thirds of participants identified as at risk exceeded the threshold, as did around half of those assessed as low risk; the study said a trigger near £187 could offer a better balance but needs further validation.

The findings bear on how operators and policymakers balance identifying risk against checks on lower-risk gamblers.
