UvA researchers publish open-source model to assess online gambling risk in the Netherlands

Regulation

Researchers at the University of Amsterdam made an open-source model for identifying risky online gambling behaviour publicly accessible on 18 August through the KSA’s website. The researchers said it uses recorded casino play and was trained using bets from players at 13 Dutch online casinos over two years, from 30 July 2023 to 30 July 2025.

The model gives regulators an independent tool to assess player-protection measures and potential gambling risks.
