PointsBet forecasts 16% fall in H1 FY27 revenue to AUD113m

Deals & M&A · SectorWire deskSource published 2 min read

In brief
  • PointsBet expects H1 FY27 group revenue of AUD113m, about 16% lower year on year.
  • The company forecasts a normalised EBITDA loss of AUD6m to AUD8m for the period.
  • PointsBet cites compliance actions and adverse AFL and other sports results.
  • The full H1 FY27 report is due on 30 October 2026.

PointsBet Holdings Limited expects group revenue of AUD113m for the first half of its 2027 financial year, a decline of about 16% on the prior-year period, the company said in a trading update published on 13 October 2026. The H1 FY27 period runs from 1 April 2026 to 30 September 2026. The company said the full H1 FY27 report will be published on 30 October 2026.

PointsBet said group revenue for H1 2026 was about AUD135m. It also expects a normalised EBITDA loss for H1 FY27 of between AUD6m and AUD8m.

The company attributed the expected decline to its Australian business and cited two reasons. The first was the continued strengthening of its compliance standards and a proactive approach; PointsBet said a sustained trend of double-digit turnover and revenue declines against the prior comparable period throughout H1, from its highest-value client cohort, could be attributed to proactive compliance actions. The company said it believed these were important decisions given an increasingly complex regulatory environment in Australia.

The second factor PointsBet cited was a decision to speed up expansion in mass market sports actives, a step the operator said may produce short-term swings in net win margins. According to the company, improvements in that segment during H1 FY27 were cancelled out by a negative variance in actual Net Win margin, which it linked to adverse results across the AFL and other sports.

“A sustained trend of double-digit turnover and revenue declines vs PCP throughout H1 from our highest value client cohort can be attributed to proactive compliance actions.
