Philippines civil service commission bans gambling by government workers

Regulation

The Philippine Civil Service Commission issued Resolution No. 2600111, prohibiting government workers from gambling in person or online, subject to exceptions provided by law. The resolution covers gambling venues in the Philippines and abroad, as well as online casinos, e-bingo, e-sabong and internet betting. Penalties are a reprimand for a first offence, suspension for a second and termination for a third; the measure takes effect 15 days after publication in the Official Gazette or a newspaper.

The policy creates workplace compliance obligations and escalating disciplinary penalties for covered government employees.
