Peruvian lawmakers propose raising online betting tax to 5%
A Peruvian parliamentary group proposed increasing the selective consumption tax on online bets from 1% to 5% per wager, while excluding land-based gambling. The proposed levy would be separate from the existing 12% tax on remote gambling and sports betting gross gaming revenue and would apply to domestic and foreign operators. The bill estimates annual receipts could rise from about S/324 million to S/1.62 billion, describing the projection as illustrative.
If approved, the proposal would raise operators’ tax costs on online wagers in Peru.
