Ontario proclaimed the iGO Act on 12 May 2025, establishing iGO as an independent agency, according to the AGCO. iGO now reports to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming; the AGCO retains regulatory oversight of online gambling operators, suppliers and iGO.
The change separates iGO’s commercial role from the AGCO’s regulatory oversight in Ontario’s online gambling market.

Its costs are covered through cost recovery and base government funding; the plan also describes multi-year projections for fees, operating costs and capital spending.
