OJK freezes 33,252 Indonesian bank accounts over online gambling
Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) instructed commercial banks to freeze 33,252 accounts after detecting transactions linked to online casinos, the report reported. An OJK executive said the authority blocked about 1,000 accounts in the four weeks before the report. The source also said Indonesia’s Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center had halted welfare payments to more than 600,000 families in gambling-related investigations.
The account blocks and welfare-payment suspensions show the financial measures affecting people linked to illegal online gambling in Indonesia.
