Nine European regulators warn prediction markets over World Cup compliance
Gambling regulators in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland issued a joint warning about prediction markets during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They said the platforms may lack safeguards and could breach national rules, and pledged to act where necessary against those that fail to comply. The regulators also urged sports bodies to check legality before agreeing major partnerships with prediction-market platforms.
The warning signals coordinated enforcement risk for prediction-market platforms and potential partners during the tournament.
