New York governor signs bill banning online sweepstakes casinos
New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed Senate Bill 5935-A, banning online sweepstakes casinos in the state, the report said. The law takes effect immediately and allows fines of $10,000 to $100,000 per offence; the New York State Gaming Commission, Attorney General’s Office and State Police may enforce it.
Operators and service providers face a state ban, financial penalties and possible loss of eligibility for New York gaming licences.
