New York governor signs sweepstakes casino ban as three states propose bills
New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed a law banning sweepstakes casinos, while lawmakers in Florida, Indiana and Maine introduced related bills, according to the report. The New York measure formalises action taken this summer, when sites left after receiving cease-and-desist letters from Attorney General Letitia James. The proposed bills would establish further restrictions or penalties in the other states.
The signed ban and new proposals could restrict sweepstakes casino operators across four US state markets.
