New Jersey seeks more time for Supreme Court challenge in Kalshi case
New Jersey Solicitor General Jeremy Feigenbaum asked the US Supreme Court on 26 June for more time to file a petition challenging a ruling that blocked the state from enforcing its sports betting laws against Kalshi. He said pending decisions in other courts could clarify whether there is a split on the issue. The Third Circuit had ruled that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission has exclusive jurisdiction over Kalshi’s sports event contracts.
The challenge could affect whether states can apply sports betting laws to prediction-market contracts.
