Michigan judge orders Kalshi to geoblock sports contracts by 12 August

Enforcement & compliance

An Ingham County Circuit Court judge reportedly extended an order barring Kalshi from offering sports event contracts to users in Michigan. The judge ordered Kalshi to block users physically located in the state by 12 August; non-compliance could lead to fines of $0.5 million per day. Kalshi has said it will appeal the earlier ruling.

Kalshi must implement location-based blocking by the court’s deadline to avoid potential daily fines.
