Mexico weighs new gaming law as 2026 tax package raises IEPS rate to 50%

Regulation

Mexico is considering a Federal Gaming Law to replace legislation dating from 1947, while the 2026 Fiscal Package raises the IEPS tax rate to 50%, according to the report. It said platforms must register with tax authorities and withhold applicable taxes, and that the tax authority can access platform data in real time; the legislative proposal was introduced by Congressman Ricardo Mejía Berdeja in October 2025.

The proposed legal framework and tax changes could alter compliance obligations for gambling platforms in Mexico.
