Maryland Lottery and Gaming limits legal online gaming to sports betting and fantasy competitions

Maryland Lottery and Gaming says licensed online sports wagering and registered online fantasy competitions are the state’s only legal online gaming options. The agency has also notified licensed and registered operators about sports event prediction markets and says it issues cease-and-desist letters to platforms it considers to be operating illegally.
Operators must distinguish the permitted online products from other real-money gaming that the agency says is not legal in Maryland.
