Malta Gaming Authority publishes voluntary AI charter for gaming

Regulation

Malta’s Gaming Authority (MGA) published its AI Gaming Charter on 18 September, developed with the Malta Digital Innovation Authority. The source described five principles, including transparency, data governance and human oversight, and said the charter is voluntary and creates no new legal duties for licensees. It also reported that parts of the EU AI Act were already binding, including a prohibition on certain manipulative AI practices from 2 February 2025 and transparency requirements from 2 August 2026.

Operators can use the voluntary charter as guidance but must still account for the binding EU AI Act requirements described.
