Maine lawmakers propose fines and licence revocation for sweepstakes games
Maine lawmakers introduced LD 2007 for the 2026 session to prohibit online sweepstakes games, with the Department of Public Safety submitting the measure through sponsor Senator Craig Hickman. The bill proposes civil fines of $10,000 to $100,000 and licence revocation for existing gambling licensees found to operate or support such games. It was referred to the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee.
If enacted, the proposal would expose sweepstakes operators and supporting licensees to civil penalties and loss of licences.
