Maine bans dual-currency online sweepstakes games under LD 2007

Regulation

Governor Janet Mills signed LD 2007 into law on 6 April, making Maine the second US state in 2026 to prohibit online sweepstakes games using dual-currency systems. The law classifies operating, promoting or supporting such games as a civil violation and unlawful gambling, with civil fines of $10,000 to $100,000 and potential licence loss for licensed operators.

Operators using the covered dual-currency model face civil fines and potential loss of gambling licences in Maine.
