Italy's finance ministry reports gambling tax receipts down 6.2%
Italy's Ministry of Economy and Finance reported €4.298bn in gambling-related state tax receipts for the first seven months of 2026, down €284m, or 6.2%, from the same period in 2025. Indirect tax receipts from gambling, including lotteries and other activities, fell 8.1% to €3.664bn. The ministry linked declining receipts from gaming machines since 2024 probably to growing demand for other forms of gambling, including online offerings.
The ministry's figures indicate a decline in gambling tax receipts and a possible shift in demand towards online products.
