Lawyer contests allegations in Italy’s Operation Kappa gambling case

Enforcement & compliance

Lawyer Daniela Agnello said her clients in Italy’s Operation Kappa had been arrested, but a review court revoked the precautionary measure. She said the company she represents operates gaming-machine management and top-up distribution activities under a contract with the state concessionaire, and intends to provide documentation arguing that its business was lawful; she also said clients in the earlier Totem case were acquitted.

The case concerns allegations of illegal online betting and a company’s claimed compliance with Italy’s regulated gaming system.
