Yggdrasil's YGG Masters content programme now includes KingMidas Games, the companies have announced. According to the companies, the studio will build on Yggdrasil's proprietary Game in a BoxTM technology to create and launch games.
“We believe the future of gaming lies not just in how games are played, but in how they make players feel.”
Membership of the programme hands the studio more say over how its games are made. According to the companies, the team will be free to change mechanics, redo math models and server-side logic, and try out various gameplay directions as development proceeds. The stated aim is to help the studio create and launch games faster.
The agreement also gives KingMidas Games access to Yggdrasil's commercial support and a distribution network of more than 2,000 brands. The companies said the combination is intended to support the studio's international growth and its presence in new markets.
Yggdrasil said KingMidas Games brings a portfolio of more than 150 titles and collaborations with Japanese IP holders. Sargis Khachatryan, global commercial director at KingMidas Games, said the studio's ambition has been to create distinctive experiences that resonate with players worldwide, and described Yggdrasil as a strategic partner.
Zoe Bird, head of YGG Masters, said the programme welcomed KingMidas Games and its Japanese IP collaborations, and that Yggdrasil would support the studio through development and the launch of its first title with the programme.
