Kenya gambling advertising spend falls 89% to Sh131 million
The Communications Authority of Kenya reported that gambling advertising spend fell 89% to Sh131 million in the quarter to September 2025, from Sh1.2 billion in the previous quarter. The report linked the decline to prior-approval requirements introduced by the Betting Control and Licensing Board in June, including a ban on celebrity, influencer and content-creator endorsements.
The fall shows how prior approval and endorsement restrictions affected gambling firms’ broadcast advertising spend.
