Italy pauses physical gambling reform, leaving concession framework unresolved
Italy’s planned reform of land-based gambling was suspended after the draft had reached the Council of Ministers, according to comments by STS president Emilio Zamparelli. Zamparelli said the delay leaves operators facing regional and local rules; ADM games director Mario Lollobrigida said a uniform national framework was needed before new concession tenders could proceed. The report said discussions could resume after the summer or during 2027.
The delay leaves betting and gaming concessions operating under extensions while new tenders await a national framework.
