Regulation

A bill introduced in Italy’s Senate proposes a 2% levy on domestic football bets, with licensed operators paying the proceeds to the Italian Football Federation quarterly. The proposal would allocate at least 50% to youth development, 30% to problem-gambling prevention and reducing youth dropout from sport, and 20% to women’s and grassroots football. If approved, it would take effect on 1 January 2027.

If enacted, the proposal would add a levy and quarterly payment requirement for licensed betting operators in Italy.
