Italian MP Congedo calls for national rules on public gambling
Italian MP Saverio Congedo of Fratelli d’Italia called for national gambling rules to replace regional frameworks during the Acadi Forum in Rome. He cited €28bn in added value, 1.24% of GDP, €12bn in tax revenue, 260,000 concessionaires and 140,000 jobs, and said he was in discussions with the economy ministry. Congedo argued that distance rules could make it impossible to operate legal venues.
A proposed shift from regional to national rules could affect gambling operators’ ability to run land-based venues.
