Investigation alleges Lottoland cost Germany nearly €400m in 2019-2023
An investigation by Lilith Wittmann alleges that Lottoland’s German lottery operations deprived the state and charitable purposes of nearly €400 million between 2019 and 2023. It estimates about €165 million in unpaid lottery tax and €227 million in contributions, while also alleging that the group offered online casino and sports betting without a valid German licence.
The investigation’s allegations raise potential tax, charitable contribution and licensing issues for Lottoland’s German operations.
