Wittmann-led investigation examines Curaçao licences and German casino taxes

Regulation

An investigation by Lilith Wittmann and European journalists examined Curaçao licensing files and operators serving Germany. It reportedly identified about 800 owners behind nearly 650 Curaçao-licensed gambling companies; Wittmann estimated possible unpaid German gambling taxes linked to Platincasino at about €250m for 2023–2025, describing the figure as a journalistic estimate rather than an official assessment. The Curaçao authority said its rules were in transition, while the lawyer for businessman Thomas Kalman rejected allegations against his client.

The reported ownership and tax findings may inform scrutiny of cross-border operators and licensing controls.
