India warns VPN providers over access to online betting platforms
India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology warned VPN providers of possible legal action if they continued to enable access to prediction-market and online betting platforms, according to the ministry’s advisory and a letter dated 25 April. The ministry named Polymarket and said the services were illegal under the online gaming law that took effect on 1 May; Kalshi and Polymarket said they were engaging with or complying with applicable requirements.
The warning signals enforcement risk for VPN providers and prediction-market platforms serving users in India.
