Illinois Gaming Board sends cease-and-desist letters to 65 online operators

Enforcement & compliance

The Illinois Gaming Board, backed by the Attorney General’s Office, ordered 65 online operators to stop taking play from Illinois residents, warning that non-compliance could lead to civil or criminal action. The Social Gaming Leadership Alliance said the notices wrongly grouped social-gaming firms with illegal gambling sites and offered to work with state officials.

The notices put operators serving Illinois residents on notice of potential civil or criminal action.
