Hong Kong bureau proposes tighter licensing for claw machine venues
Hong Kong’s Home and Youth Affairs Bureau submitted proposals to the Legislative Council on 5 May to bring claw machines and other prize-based amusement devices under the Amusements with Prizes License framework. The proposals include licensing each device, displaying licences at venue entrances and addiction-warning signs, and reviewing fees. The government’s move follows concerns about gambling-like play, prize redemption and younger participants.
The proposals could require claw machine operators to license each device and display licences at venue entrances.
