Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the 2026-27 budget proposes raising fees for new land-based casino licences by 200%. He said the increase applies to onshore casinos only, with no new offshore casino permitted and the offshore total remaining fixed at six.

Reportedly, Land-based gambling licences could require extensions of two or three years. Agreement on the reform decree remained unresolved as the delegated legislative deadline of 29 August approached.
It was reported that Denmark opened land-based casino licence applications with a 3 November deadline. Licences can last up to 10 years, and applications require consultation with the relevant municipality.
