Gaming Innovation Group said Alberta’s Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission granted it a technology licence for the province. GiG said the approval allows it to operate there and offer commercial opportunities to its partners.
Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis has registered 35 operator sites at various approval stages ahead of the province’s planned 13 July online gambling launch, according to the report. Operators named include bet365, FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, Caesars, BetRivers, theScore Bet and Betway; the report also names technology and content suppliers preparing to serve the market.
Gaming Innovation Group reported a €5.22m after-tax loss for the first quarter, with revenue of €9m and adjusted core earnings of €200,000. The company said it is targeting €4.5m in annual cost reductions and moving clients from Alira to its CoreX platform. GiG maintained full-year revenue guidance of €44m to €48m and forecast core earnings of up to €13m.
ITV confirmed that its ITV Win real-money gaming site will close, with customers informed and asked to withdraw funds from their wallets. Richmond Atlantic, the platform’s operating partner, said it would wind down the brand after efforts to address the UK tax environment proved insufficient; the company also said a possible sale had not gone through.
New Zealand’s High Court has several pending cases concerning online gambling services, including claims involving Bet365, SkyCity and Super Group. Justice Ian Gault said it was too early to place the cases under joint management and granted interim suppression of the plaintiffs’ names; Bet365 disputes the court’s jurisdiction, while SkyCity has denied liability in a separate claim.
