Gespa publishes cantonal reporting on gaming fund use

Switzerland's Gespa has published the cantonal reporting forms submitted under its surveys on the use of gaming funds and on the use of the prevention levy. The forms for 2025 are listed on the authority's publications page, alongside earlier years.

The 2025 report on the use of funds is dated 11 September 2026. The page also lists reports for 2024, dated 16 October 2025, for 2023, dated 17 October 2024, for 2022, dated 18 October 2023, for 2021, dated 13 October 2022, for 2020, dated 9 September 2021, and for 2019, dated 3 December 2020.

The prevention-levy survey is listed for 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021, and a survey on the gambling-addiction levy for 2020.

Gespa said responsibility for the correct use of funds lies with each canton. The authority said it has neither the mandate nor the necessary powers to review individual allocations in the cantons for legality or to intervene to correct them.

The authority said the gambling law provides for measures to ensure transparency in this area, including an annual Gespa report on the use of funds in the cantons. Through that report, Gespa said, it helps make the cantonal processes around the use of funds visible and enables interested parties to make targeted enquiries with the responsible cantonal bodies.

Gespa also said it reports annually on its work and on topics of interest in the large-gaming sector, produces an annual report on the cantons' use of net profits from lotteries and sports betting for charitable purposes, and compiles an annual statistics report on large and small games conducted under the gambling law.
